Dermaplaning Training Course

Dermaplaning is a simple, safe, non-invasive treatment which exfoliates the epidermis. By using a sterile surgical scalpel held at a 45-degree angle and a delicate touch, the provider simply abrades the surface of the skin using light strokes.  This removes several layers of keratinized/dead skin cells on the outmost layer of the epidermis (stratum corneum) as well as the Vellus hair (fluffy blonde/peach fuzz) leaving skin smooth, supple and vibrant.

Course Details

Although it has been around for many years it as recently grown in popularity as it is a quick procedure with few to no adverse effects.

Dermaplane can be a stand-alone treatment – perfect before an event to give you bright, glowing skin – or prior to other skincare treatments (facial peels or skin-needling) to achieve even better results.

This is a great treatment to offer to patients who are pregnant or nursing who want a deep exfoliation, but are not allowed to use peeling agents on their skin because of the risk that the chemicals will be absorbed into the blood stream.

Objectives

Our Introduction to Dermaplaning course offers an in-depth understanding of the procedure, beginning with a solid foundation in skin anatomy, including the structure of the epidermis, variations across different skin types, and how environmental factors can affect skin health. You'll explore the differences between vellus and terminal hair, gaining clarity on how dermaplaning interacts with these hair types. The course provides detailed guidance on essential steps such as client consultations, identifying contraindications, and preparing for the treatment, ensuring you understand the full process from start to finish. A strong emphasis is placed on learning to recognize and manage side effects, respond to patient concerns, and handle complications with confidence and professionalism.

What sets this training apart is the opportunity for hands-on experience, including working on real patient models under 1:1 expert supervision in our fully-equipped modern clinic. With a low 4:1 trainee-to-trainer ratio, each participant receives highly personalised instruction to build both competence and confidence in performing dermaplaning.

You'll observe live technique demonstrations, practice each stage of the patient journey-from consultation through aftercare-and have the opportunity to ask questions throughout. Graduates gain exclusive access to our online support community for continued learning and peer support, as well as optional 1:1 clinic supervision (by appointment).
