What Are Polynucleotides?

Polynucleotides are purified DNA fragments, most often derived from salmon or trout, whose structure is close enough to human DNA to be recognised and used by your own cells. They are injected into the skin rather than beneath it, where they act as a signal to repair.

Rather than adding volume, they prompt fibroblasts to produce collagen and elastin and improve the skin's ability to hold water. That makes them a regenerative treatment: the improvement comes from your own tissue responding, not from the product occupying space.

This is why polynucleotides suit thin, crepey or damaged skin where filler would look wrong, particularly around the eyes. Results build across a course of three sessions and continue developing for weeks after the last one.

Benefits of Polynucleotides

A regenerative treatment for skin quality, suited to areas too delicate for conventional filler.

Improves thin, crepey skin

Thickens and strengthens skin that has become fragile, particularly under the eyes and on the neck.

Stimulates collagen and elastin

Prompts your own fibroblasts to rebuild, so firmness improves gradually and holds after the course finishes.

Deep, lasting hydration

Improves how well the skin retains water, which softens fine lines caused by dehydration rather than movement.

Calms reactive skin

Useful alongside rosacea and post-inflammatory pigmentation, where stronger resurfacing would risk a flare.

Areas We Can Treat

Polynucleotides are priced by area. Most patients begin with the area that concerns them most and extend the plan once they see how their skin responds.

Under-Eye Area

The most requested area, improving crepiness, dark shadowing and thin skin where filler often looks puffy.

Full Face

Overall improvement in firmness, hydration and texture across the whole face.

Neck

Softens the horizontal lines and loose texture that age the neck ahead of the face.

Decolletage

Treats sun damage and the fine vertical creping that develops on the chest.

Hands

Improves skin thickness and quality on the back of the hands.

Scalp

Used to improve the condition of the scalp alongside treatment for thinning hair.

What to Expect

1

Skin and Medical Consultation

Your practitioner assesses skin thickness and quality, checks for fish allergy and explains how many sessions your concern is likely to need.

2

Planning the Course

Polynucleotides work cumulatively, so the full schedule is agreed upfront, usually three sessions two to three weeks apart.

3

The Treatment

Small amounts are placed into the skin with a fine needle or cannula. Numbing cream is applied first, and most clients describe brief stinging as each point is placed.

4

Recovery and Review

Small bumps settle within a day and any bruising within a week. Your practitioner reviews progress at each session and again after the course.

Safety, Side Effects and Aftercare

Clinical Safety

Polynucleotides are injected, so they are treated as a medical procedure here. Products are sourced from regulated suppliers, prepared under sterile conditions and administered only by qualified injectors.

Because the product is derived from fish DNA, allergy screening is part of every consultation. If there is any doubt about your history we will not proceed on the day.

Potential Side Effects

Reactions are usually confined to the injection points and settle within a few days:

Small raised bumps for up to 24 hours

Bruising at the injection points

Mild swelling or tenderness

Essential Aftercare

Avoid makeup over the area for 12 hours

Skip the gym, sauna and alcohol for 24 hours

Sleep on your back on the first night if treated under the eyes

Complete the full course to get the result you were quoted

Frequently Asked Questions

What are polynucleotide treatments, and how do they work?+
Polynucleotides are regenerative molecules derived from purified DNA fragments that work at a cellular level to repair and rejuvenate the skin. They stimulate fibroblast activity, boost collagen production, and improve hydration, resulting in healthier, stronger, and more youthful-looking skin over time.
What skin concerns can polynucleotides help with?+
Polynucleotides are effective for treating fine lines, dull and tired skin, dehydration, dark under-eye circles, uneven texture, and early signs of ageing. They are also ideal for improving overall skin quality and elasticity.
What’s the difference between polynucleotides and fillers like hyaluronic acid?+
Fillers are designed to add volume and shape to specific areas of the face, while polynucleotides focus on skin regeneration and repair. Instead of changing facial structure, polynucleotides improve the skin’s natural quality from within.
Is the treatment suitable for all skin types and ages?+
polynucleotide treatments are suitable for most skin types. They are commonly used for clients experiencing early signs of ageing as well as those wanting to improve overall skin health and hydration. Suitability is always confirmed during consultation.
When will I start seeing results, and how long do they last?+
Initial improvements can be seen within 2–3 weeks, with continued enhancement as collagen production increases. Results typically last between 3–6 months depending on skin condition, lifestyle, and aftercare.
Are polynucleotide treatments safe?+
polynucleotides are considered very safe when administered by qualified professionals. They are biocompatible and widely used in both aesthetic and medical treatments for skin repair and regeneration.
How much does polynucleotides cost in Liverpool?+
Polynucleotides are priced by area, from £238.80 for the eyes and £300 for the full face, up to £838.80 for face, neck and chest. A course of 3 sessions 2 to 3 weeks apart is standard, with a top-up every 6 to 9 months.
Do you offer payment plans?+
Yes. You can spread the cost of treatment with Klarna, chosen at the point of booking. Your practitioner will talk you through the options at your consultation.
